The expiatory church of La Sagrada Família may be considered the paradigm of the use of stone in architecture today. With this geological material many of the monuments of the history of humanity have been built, some of them works of art.

The twenty-two kinds of stone that have been used for the construction of the church for the last one hundred and 128 years are rocks that are part of the earth, products of the different processes and stages of geological eras.
