- Once the ticket has been validated visitors may not leave the building and come back inside.

- Visitors who have bought the tickets in advance must be at the ticket offices provided for the purpose at the time indicated on the ticket.

- Individuals and groups must enter the basilica through the entrances provided for them.

- Tickets must be shown to any member of the service or security staff who so require, or any duly accredited basilica staff who asks to see them.

- Visitors under 18 must always be accompanied by an adult in order to enter the building.

- Particular conditions of access to the ambulatory area:

• Confessional area:
  • - Due to limited space, no groups are permitted.
  • - Photography is permitted.
  • - Visitors can listen to their audioguide descriptions.
• Prayer area:
  • - Visitors should remain seated and in silence.
  • - Photography is not permitted.
  • - Visitors can listen to their audioguide descriptions.
  • - Visitors should be appropriately dressed. Admission will be refused to anyone wearing T-shirts or showing bare cleavage or back. Trousers and skirts should be long or at least below the knee. Men should not cover their heads.
  • - Due to limited space, no groups are permitted.
• Audiovisual area:
  • - Due to limited space, no groups are permitted.
  • - Photography is permitted.
  • - Visitors can listen to their audioguide descriptions.

- The last tickets will be sold 30 minutes before the basilica closes.

- Visitors will begin to leave the building 15 minutes before it closes.

- Visitors may be asked to leave the building or particular parts of it before the official closing time if conditions so require.

- The established opening times and days may be altered by the management for special events.

- To take advantage of the established discounts visitors must present documents of accreditation, which are subject to validation by entry control staff.

- Invitations and Friends of the Church cards allowing entrance to the building must be accompanied by a ticket with the date of the visit which will be supplied at the ticket offices provided for the purpose.

- In application of the regulations and the right of admission, anyone expelled from the building will only be entitled to a return of the price of the ticket in the following cases:

• If, in application of the right of admission, a person who has bought the ticket in advance is refused admission.
• If the visit to the towers, the audio guide or guided tour service has been suspended, the price of the service affected will be returned.

- The occasional closing of some part of the basilica does not give any right to a discount or a return of the price of the ticket.

- Tickets must be shown to use the audio guide or guided tour services and to visit the towers.
